What We Do

Sea Turtle Ministries is passionate about bringing the good news of the grace of God to college students.  Everything we do is about reaching out to emerging adults, ages 18-25 to help them find their place in His Story.

Our Strategy

We are building a late night café environment to meet students where they are at and literally “feed God’s sheep”.  College students tend to become nocturnal.  They like to party, and need places to hang out that are an alternative to the drinking, drugs and club scene.  In addition to our café environment, we are creating a secondary (upstairs) setting for large and small groups to meet for entertainment, speakers, and life enrichment groups.  We create dynamic environments where students can learn about God and life, and connect with others, all while having a great time, and contributing to their communities.

The Sea Turtle Café

Sea Turtle Ministries is raising funds to build the first Sea Turtle Café in Charleston, South Carolina in 2011.  Both Sea Turtle Ministries and Sea Turtle Café are registered 501c(3) non-profit corporations.  Once operational, funds raised through food and beverage sales will support ministry and entertainment activities. Our vision is to replicate this type of environment at college towns throughout the Southeast.

We work collaboratively with local churches and college ministry groups to effectively reach college students in diverse and dynamic ways.  Along with growing with God, our goals are to help young adults avoid substance abuse, heal from addictions, prevent suicide and self-destructive choices; and to empower students to create healthy, meaningful lives that make a positive difference in the world.

The Sea Turtle Café will offer the following programs:

  • Coffee and comfort foods (breakfast foods, soups, paninis, appetizers, salads, etc).  Open til 3:00 am.
  • Bookstore/Gift shop- with the latest and best Christian resources.
  • Entertainment- such as musicians, bands, open mic nights, and clean comedy.
  • Life Enrichment Small Groups- to study real life issues that you never learn in school.
  • Celebrate Recovery – a meeting and healing place for college students struggling with hurts, habits and hang-ups.
  • Speakers with teachings geared toward college students and emerging adults.
